John Cena vs. The Great Khali

John Cena vs. The Great Khali in India: Could It Be the Ultimate Ratings Winner?

In the last few years, the WWE's markets have been expanding from the traditional mainstays of the USA, Canada and the UK to across the globe in places like China, Japan and India. India, in particular, is a market which the WWE would do well to tap into. With a population of over a billion, India has become one of the largest potential markets for the 'E, with the country's interest in wrestling booming since their last tour in 2002, which was warmly recieved itself. Recent promotional tours from Rey Mysterio and Kane were greeted with an exceptional response and the two superstars were clearly taken aback by the reception. As late as last year, WWE's vice-president of international relations, Andrew Whitaker, was quoted as saying "Given how quickly the WWE's fan base continues to grow in size, loyalty and passion, India is fast becoming one of WWE's most important international markets."

The WWE's rise in popularity in India can be laid squarely at the feet of one man, the Punjabi Nightmare/Playboy himself, The Great Khali. Born and bred in Dhirana, India, The Great Khali is treated quite harshly by the WWE Universe outside of the Indian sub-continent. Many regard him as a laughing stock, always constantly referring to his negative aspects, particularly his lack of wrestling skill (although, for some reason, I quite like him. I couldn't tell you WHY I do, but I do). However, in his home country, the man is regarded in the highest way possible. Much like the way Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan were still regularly cheered during their heel turns, it seems that The Great Khali can do nothing wrong in the eyes of his fellow countrymen.

So I thought of an idea which would see the WWE finally capitalise on their burgeoning Indian fanbase. the WWE should give The Great Khali his "Bulldog moment". For those who are a bit lost by that reference, I'm talking about the infamous Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog match at Summerslam '92. In front of over 75,000 people in his home country at Wembley Stadium in London, the British Bulldog was cheered on by his home crowd, despite being the heel in the fued and Bret Hart being incredibly over.

The match was made a main event, headlining over a WWE Championship match, despite being an Intercontinental Championship match. The match ended with the Bulldog defeating Hart and winning the title in front of a record-breaking homeland audience, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest matches in Summerslam and overall WWE history.
So why couldn't WWE repeat the trick with The Great Khali? I don't think there's any other foreigner in the WWE who is so over in his country. The British contingent are all heels and don't have the same reach as Bulldog did or Khali does. Ditto Kozlov, Santino, Primo or even Kofi Kingston. None of them have the same homeland appeal that Khali seems to command.

Here's my idea: Bring back a Saturday Night Main Event-style programme for one night in a big Stadium in somewhere like the Indira Gandhi Arena in Delhi, which holds 25,000 people (I don't think arenas lend themselves as much to such massively-hyped matches, and there would certainly be enough demand to fill it), giving those outside the sub-continent a free-to-air event, and making it Pay-Per-View only within India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It's obvious this event is going to have a more limited appeal outside of these places, but that's no reason to stop them from watching it because I still think it would be a great event. However, the buyrates within India would be astronomic. The two biggest names in the country facing off in India itself? It's a guaranteed pull. Obviously, to make it more financially viable they should probably do a few house shows as well and make it into a full tour, but critically John Cena and The Great Khali should not meet on any of the House Shows. The PPV match should be the first time they meet in the ring, else the build-up is wasted.

The title should also be on the line. Seeing The Great Khali win the title on home soil would be amazing. Of course, the match would have to end with a Khali win. Seeing SuperCena get beaten for half an hour before pulling the 6 moves of Doom to get the win would be ridiculous, especially considering the fact that Cena would FINALLY be the Heel in a feud. It doesn't involve any betrayal or defamation of character from Cena, because he would naturally be viewed as a heel by an Indian audience. Not only would the IWC, have a field day, but I'm sure Cena would love the out-of-the-ordinary feeling of being the less-favoured competitor for a night or two. However, I don't think there should be an Underdog. Yeah, Cena will have a great disadvantage due to Khali's added weight and size, but Khali will have to overcome the odds of facing such a dominant champion, the Superman himself. It's the 21st Century reincarnation of Hogan vs. Andre, in my opinion.

There is another point which I'd like to raise and it was brought to my attention by a wonderful article by the excellent Montique David (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/508939-wwe-poster-boy-john-cena-is-superman-the-issue-or-is-it-not-having-doomsday For those who haven't yet looked at it). In the article, Montique raises the point that the problem with SuperCena is not the monotonous nature of the character but the fact that there is no Doomsday-esque Super Villain Heel who can come and finally destroy Cena, his momentum and his incredible run of dominance in the WWE. Well, when we speak of monster heels, who could be more monster than The Great Khali? I'm not for one minute suggesting that the Khali would "destroy" everything Cena holds dear in this match, as he would be the face, but I can definitely see this match being a springboard for a feud between Cena and Khali that would see Cena becoming increasingly frustrated as he faces Khali a few times and is constantly defeated, starting with this event in India. Then, we could have Cena do the old face routine of putting everything on the line, training hard and "unlocking" a new, even stronger Cena from deep down in preparation for a final showdown with Khali. The twist would be that, despite his new-found resilience, Cena would still lose and face his "doomsday".

All this is mere fantasy though and there is no indication that any of this will happen. Furthermore, The Great Khali's former confrontations with Cena and his previous history in the WWE makes me think that maybe Khali wouldn't be Cena's "doomsday". I still think it should be a Lesnar-style newcomer. However, I still think that a match between Cena and The Great Khali on Indian soil would be big business for the company in the sub-continent. If anything, I think Cena's at his best against Monster Heel opponents and if there's anyone who could work a good match out of Khali, it would be Cena. But what do you think? Do you think a Hogan vs. Andre-style confrontation in India between the WWE's two biggest names in the country would be a good money-spinner for the company? Could you see this match being a catalyst for a feud where The Great Khali becomes Cena's Doomsday? Would you enjoy this match? Could Cena and Khali make it entertaining?

Glen Thomas Jacobs (born April 26, 1967) is a Spanish-born American professional wrestler and actor better known by his ring name, Kane. He is working for WWE, signed to its SmackDown brand but is currently inactive due to an injury.Jacobs began his wrestling career in 1992 working on independent circuits. He wrestled in Smoky Mountain Wrestling as Unabomb where he won the SMW Tag Team Championship as a member of The Dynamic Duo, and in the United States Wrestling Association where he won the USWA Heavyweight Championship as Doomsday. He later joined his current promotion, the World Wrestling Federation (which later became World Wrestling Entertainment in 2002) in 1995, where he wrestled under various gimmicks before debuting as his current character, Kane, in 1997. The character's half-brother is The Undertaker, with whom Kane has teamed up as the Brothers of Destruction.Jacobs has accumulated 17 championship accolades during his WWE career. He is a three-time world champion, having won the WWF Championship once, the ECW Championship once, and the World Heavyweight Championship once (tied for third longest reign in history) making him the first of two people ever to hold all three WWE world titles.
He is also a two-time WWF/E Intercontinental Champion, a one-time WWF Hardcore Champion, and an eleven-time Tag Team Champion; winning the WWE Tag Team Championship (once with The Big Show), the WCW World Tag Team Championship once (with The Undertaker), and the World Tag Team Champion nine times (twice with Mankind, X-Pac, and The Undertaker; and once with The Hurricane, Rob Van Dam, and The Big Show). Jacobs is the third Grand Slam Champion in WWE history. In addition to championships, he is a one-time Money in the Bank winner, also he has become the quickest man to cash in the briefcase. Kane currently holds several records in the Royal Rumble match. Most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble with 11, most Royal Rumble match appearances with 15, most consecutive appearances in the match with 13 from 1999 to 2011, and the quickest elimination of another competitor at 1.8 seconds.Following a disqualification loss to Big Show by using a steel chair in early 2011, Kane began an apparent alliance with The Corre (a group consisting of Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel) when they offered to assist Kane in another match against Big Show on March 4. However, after Gabriel stumbled into him during the assault, Kane attacked him with a steel chair, and The Corre retaliated against him in defense of their teammate. This turned Kane face once again. As a result, Kane faced off against Barrett the following week. The match ended with interference from the other members of The Corre, who in turn were chased away when Big Show came to the ring and threatened the group with a steel chair. After the group left, he hit Kane with the chair for payback from the week before. On the May 28 episode of SmackDown!, he lost to CM Punk in a qualifying match for the World Heavyweight Championship for the WWE Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view event. The following week on SmackDown!, Kane claimed that he found his brother The Undertaker in a "vegetative state" over Memorial Day weekend and vowed revenge on whoever was responsible. Because of The Undertaker's injury, it was announced that there would be a Battle Royal between the whole SmackDown! roster to replace him for the WWE Fatal 4 Way event, which Rey Mysterio won by lastly eliminating Kane.In Kane's quest, he participated in his fourth Money in the Bank Ladder match at WWE's Money in the Bank. Kane would then win the Money in the Bank Ladder match and later on in the event, cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and defeated Rey Mysterio to win the World Heavyweight Championship after Mysterio had just retained the title against Jack Swagger.

On the following SmackDown! on July 23, Kane accused Mysterio of putting The Undertaker in a vegetative state. On the August 6, 2010 episode of SmackDown!, Mysterio claimed he was innocent before claiming that Kane himself was the perpetrator behind the assault on The Undertaker." At SummerSlam, Kane retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Mysterio.

After the match, he attempted to put Mysterio into a casket, only for The Undertaker to appear. Upon his return, Kane delivered him a Tombstone Piledriver and thus, proving Kane to be the real attacker of The Undertaker, turning him heel in the process, and also reigniting their feud. On the following edition of SmackDown!, Kane revealed that he had been planning his attack for years and was finally the dominant brother, with control of Undertaker's powers. With these powers he was easily able to attack his brother multiple times, prior to, during, or after his matches.

He then went on to successfully defend the World Heavyweight Championship against The Undertaker, in a No Holds Barred match at Night of Champions. On the following edition of Smackdown!, a casket was brought to ringside by druids to reveal the return of Paul Bearer, who was announced to be The Undertaker's manager against Kane at Hell in a Cell.At Hell in a Cell, Paul Bearer turned on The Undertaker. After Undertaker kicked out from a Tombstone, Bearer blinded Undertaker with the urn and gave it to Kane, who smashed Undertaker in the head with it and chokeslammed him to retain the World Heavyweight title. At Bragging Rights, Kane defeated Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match to retain the title again after help from The Nexus, thus ending the feud between Undertaker and Kane.

A.J. Styles

Allen Jones
(born June 2, 1978),[4] better known by his ring name A.J. Styles is an American professional wrestler currently working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).
He, James Storm, Jeff Jarrett and Abyss (who wrestled under the name Justice) are the only wrestlers to perform on the inaugural NWA-TNA pay-per-view event on June 19, 2002, and still be employed by the company in a wrestling role today.
Since he joined TNA, Styles has been a four-time World Heavyweight Champion, having held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship three times and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship once, the very first TNA X Division Champion, while also sharing the record for most reigns with six with Jay Lethal, a five-time World Tag Team Champion (4 NWA and 1 TNA), and a two-time Television Champion.
With having won the TNA X Division, NWA World Tag Team, and NWA World Heavyweight Championships, Styles was the first to complete the TNA Triple Crown Championship. Styles would later complete the Triple Crown three more times, making him the only man to complete it more than once.
His victory over Booker T for the TNA Legends (now Television) Championship made him the first man to have ever won the TNA Grand Slam Championship, which he has done twice.
He is also the longest reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion in the company's history. Also, he is the only wrestler in TNA to have held every male championship owned and sanctioned by TNA at any point during the company's history.
All totaled, he has won 17 championships in TNA. In 2010 he became the first wrestler signed with TNA (at the time) to rank in at #1 on Pro Wrestling Illustrated annual PWI 500 list.

Abdullah the Butcher

Lawrence Robert "Larry" Shreve
(born on January 11, 1941) best known as Abdullah the Butcher, and also at times The Madman from the Sudan, is a semi-retired Canadian professional wrestler known as one of the most brutal or "hardcore" professional wrestlers of all-time. He debuted in the late 1950s, and is a 2011 inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The scars in his forehead are said to be a result of frequent blading. According to Mick Foley, Shreve used to put gambling chips into the deep divots in his head to entertain (or scare) people at casinos. However, New Jack claimed in his RF Video shoot interview that the grooves in Shreve's head were surgically implemented.

An amateur martial artist, Shreve also has knowledge of judo and karate, often including this knowledge in his professional wrestling matches. This knowledge was mainly displayed by him using judo style throws, and karate chops.

In addition to his hardcore style, his dietary habits have also become infamous in the wrestling world. He has been shown to eat announcers' ties, whole raw fish, he once even appeared to bite the head off a live chicken before a shocked crowd.

Abdullah's appearances on the NWA's Georgia Championship Wrestling television broadcasts frequently highlighted his gustatory mayhem. While on camera he was shown eating reams of paper, cardboard boxes, the announcer's script, and even half of Gordon Solie's microphone.

Prior to a match with local favorite Bob Armstrong he ate an entire live toad in front of Armstrong and his son as an act of intimidation. His unpredictable, ultra-violent style served as inspiration for other wrestlers, including “Maniac” Mark Lewin, Kevin Sullivan, Cactus Jack, Kamala, and Sabu, among others; and he still continues to compete on the independent circuit in a career that has now spanned five decades.

Abdullah has worked in nearly every major wrestling promotion in the world, with the exception of TNA.
Outside of wrestling, Shreve owns two restaurants (one in southwest Atlanta, the other in Japan) called "Abdullah the Butcher's House of Ribs and Chinese Food.

" Reviews of the Atlanta restaurant have been mixed. Most diners claim the Chinese portion of the menu is pretty scary, but that the ribs are better than average. Shreve is often on hand to meet fans and sign autographs. Shreve and his restaurant make a cameo appearance in the music video for the song "Damn!" by Atlanta recording artists Youngbloodz. Shreve's restaurant was also referenced in the 2006 Film "ATL" during a scene where the character Ant (played by Evan Ross) and two friends argue over a local barbecue.

WWE had been promoting Abdullah The Butcher more than ever since his Hall of Fame induction. He now has a profile and videos on their website and he is also featured on their "Best Steel Cage Matches" DVD.

randy orton wife samantha

Meet Samantha Speno Orton. She is WWE Champion Randy Orton’s wife who just recently won his seventh title. His wife is super “Hot” and we want to know all about her. Keep reading the story below and don’t forget to take a look at the photos and video after the jump.

Ok, so Samantha’s husband won a very important title, the WWE Championships is a huge deal to every wrestler, for him it was a great reward after his last title almost a year ago. For Samantha title or no title he is already a champion.
Our Lovely WWE WAG is quite different than any other, she can be spotted by her man during his fights, but when it comes to her life outside the ring she protects it with her life, don’t get us wrong if you are lucky to bump with her she is the nicest, sweetest person in the world, but let’s find more about her.
29 year old Samantha Marie Speno went to Francis Howell North High School in Saint Charles, Missouri where she graduated in 2000.

The story of how this sexy couple met seems like the usual guy who spotted the most beautiful girl at the club, approached her and the rest is history. It was sort of like this, but I like to think about it more like love at first sight, sure he did see her across the room, approached her after a friend helped him (He had just broken his foot), sat next to her, flashed a drop dead smile and asked for her number. Sure he was dreamy but how serious can he be? Sam might have thought, maybe it was not such a good idea, but he insisted and then she thought It wouldn’t hurt to give him her number even less if he could remember it to call her, so after telling him that he would have to remember it she gave it to him. And you sure know the rest? He did remember it and called her. They started dating and after a while moved in together. A year later in November 2005 they got engaged.
On September 21st, 2007 Samantha Speno became the new Mrs. Orton, three months later it was announced she was pregnant. These days besides being an utterly sexy wife, 29 year old Sam or Sammy like her friends call her is a terrific, caring mother of their daughter Alana Marie Orton who was born on July 12th, 2008. When Samantha is not being a housewife at their home in High Ridge, Saint Charles, Missouri she is a gymnastics teacher.

It was wonderful to know more about Samantha, What about you? Would you like to share any other information you have about the wonderful Mrs. Orton? Check out Sam’s photos and video below.

In the real life of Randy Orton he is in fact married to Samantha Speno, but that's not the woman who appeared seated next to him on the March 9th, 2009 episode of Raw (Youtube video here). The woman pictured above is an actress and not Randy's real wife who you can see in the pictures below. According to pwinsider.com, the woman playing the role of Samantha was former Playboy playmate Laura Croft (Miss July 2008). Lucky for the stunt double Samantha during Triple H's break-in she wasn't Pedigreed on the kitchen floor as retaliation for the nasty RKO that Orton gave to Stephanie.

The pictures below feature Orton and real wife Samantha together. One photo is at an autograph signing as well as Orton and Speno attending the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony. Notice in the second picture that Orton has a love-inspired tattoo of "Samantha" inked on his right forearm.

After getting engaged in 2005, Orton and Speno tied the knot back on September 21st, 2007. On July 12, 2008, Samantha gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Alanna Marie Orton (info source: Wikipedia.org). Orton has reported before that he's generally shy outside of the WWE and wrestling ring. The story of Orton's meeting with Samnantha Speno, while unconfirmed, is that Orton was recovering from a foot injury and a buddy took him out to a bar. While there, Orton spotted Samantha, took a seat next to her and asked for her phone number. Samantha told him if he could memorize he could have it, and the rest is history. Orton was said to also have previously dated WWE Diva Candice Michelle, but then fell in love with his current wife.

Speaking of WWE Divas, this also puts an interesting perspective on that whole Kelly Kelly love story which was used for just a few episodes. Orton said it was "just one night" and it involved a brief feud where Kane had been demanding that Kelly reveal who she had interest in. Of course that whole story seems to be history now as WWE is working with the Triple H versus Randy Orton for the WWE title match at Wrestlemania 25, but based on what's been seen involving Edge, Vickie Guerrero and Big Show, it just might come back to haunt Orton at another time.

Randy Orton

Randal Keith "Randy" Orton
(born April 1, 1980) is an American professional wrestler. He is signed to WWE wrestling on its SmackDown brand.Orton is a third-generation professional wrestler; his grandfather Bob Orton, Sr., father "Cowboy" Bob Orton, as well as his uncle Barry O, all competed in the professional wrestling industry.

Before being promoted to the main WWE roster, Orton trained in and wrestled for Mid-Missouri Wrestling Association-Southern Illinois Conference Wrestling for a month. He was then sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where Orton held the OVW Hardcore Championship on two separate occasions.

After signing with WWE, Orton became a member of the stable Evolution, which quickly led to a WWE Intercontinental Championship reign, his first title with the company. Orton also acquired the moniker "The Legend Killer" during a storyline where he began disrespecting Hall of Famers and physically attacking veterans of the industry outside of appropriate restrictions.

At age 24, Orton became the youngest person ever to hold the World Heavyweight Championship. With this win, Orton departed from Evolution and a feud with his former stablemates began. In 2006, Orton joined forces with Edge in a tag team known as Rated-RKO.

Together, Orton and Edge held the World Tag Team Championship. After the team disbanded, during mid-2007, Orton gained two WWE Championship reigns in one night.
Orton formed the group The Legacy with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase in 2008, however, they would disband in 2010 with Orton returning to singles competition.
Overall, Orton is an eight-time world champion, having won the World Heavyweight Championship twice and the WWE Championship six times. He is also the winner of the 2009 Royal Rumble match.
